The personal experience of journals and sharing my inspirations…

I recently took part in an on-line woman’s retreat hosted by Amber Kuileimailani Bonnici. I seem to be doing these (unplanned) a couple of times a year. They are quite wonderful, and also intense and it takes me a while to absorb and integrate all the stuff I have learned. And, to be honest it’s very personal work so, I haven’t really thought of sharing it before. But, some (most) of the women I am discovering are so INSPIRING and wonderful that I feel I simply must. Today I share the first of these. Maybe some of these tools that I endlessly collect for my own toolbox will be useful additions to your own…Maybe you have come across Marthe Hagen already or maybe you really need to!

If you know me even a little bit, you probably know I LOVE working in my journals. I am endlessly inspired by others and enjoy trying out new ideas. Now it’s time to SHARE, even though it may be personal!

A really quick (or slow) journalling exercise I learned in my recent on-line retreat was from Marthe Hagen founder of The Freedom Experiment. Choose a new page in your journal. It can be any clean page. Your journal can be lined or plain, cheapie or expensive. This is not important. Write… I am feeling…. and put something, anything. Next, write a little about it. As much or as little as you like. Finally, write a response letter to this as if you were writing to a younger person or a younger version of yourself. She suggests you write this with a different coloured pen. You are the wise one. What would you say? Again, write as much or as little as you desire. This can take five minutes or you can spend a long long time…

I love this! It’s so simple and yet so effective. Marthe has also written an e-book called; ‘Feeling Good when Life is Hard.’ which can be downloaded here. It is completely FREE. I haven’t read it all yet, only the first few chapters but I recommend it already, especially for our down times. She is so beautifully and painfully honest in her writing. If you check it out I would love to know what you think. X
