The Sunshine Bloggers Award – Part 2

IMG_0991

For part 1 see here, but it was getting so long I had to break it into two posts… Here is part 2…

Why do you blog today?

This question is really close to my heart because it is the very reason I write. I have a quick answer, and a really long one. The long version became so long it is a complete post on its own. I will post it up in a few days. The short answer is – I love to write, I love the connection, and I believe there is healing in both.

What do you want to do with your life when you retire?

I am actually already am doing it. This is why Mr True-Love H and I, sold our house, left our ‘everything,’ and live the life of full-time travel. Low out goings, choosing how we spend our time, aka, our lives. We get to experience so many places because we love to slow travel and even though the lack of the solid & familiar often feels strange, uncomfortable even, so far, we have both chosen the freedom above anything else. It’s been over four years of unplanned travels, and this is why my blog has now organically evolved into…

The Unexpected Gypsy‘ posts.

Our lifestyle may change in the future, we just don’t know yet. And, that is OK for us. I have to say I do miss having my own nest though. Somewhere to hang my hat and truly ground. But, maybe in the meantime, I should start to offer – Travelling Workshops come to town! A bit like an art circus! I would love that!

Travelling Art Workshops in the Wendy Fairy Art Gypsy Bus!

Mmm… Food for thought! I think I would love this…

If you could be 16 again, would you?!

No, I definitely wouldn’t! I left home at this age, it was a hard time. I was fragile, vulnerable and had a predator boyfriend who devastated my heart. Seventeen was much better, I would do seventeen again, instead.

Do you do most of your internet browsing at home or on the go?

My home IS on the go, as we are currently nomadic, so I don’t really know how to answer this question! I would say though, that I like to sit with comfort and time to browse on-line. I have been known to spend hours on Pinterest dream-weaving, about home and travels similtaneously!

What’s your morning routine like?

Ritual with a capital ‘R!’ So, so important to me. I am such a creature of my morning habits and I crave the familiar more so since we travel around continuously. It is one of the things I can maintain consistently, everywhere. It is something that is also a big part of my self-care, and sets my whole day up right. Most importantly, the rituals and routines makes me feel SAFE. I have a way of getting up, stretching, making my bed with love, washing and dressing for our early morning ‘stomp.’ We both love good long walks first thing in the morning. I drink lemon water, put my wellies on, and walk.

Once we return home it’s our beloved cafe & coffee time. This is special and SACRED. Nothing messes with Coffee Time! Not even the parrot we are currently house-sitting with! We brew our favourite organic coffee and only allow 1 or 2 very small cups! We both savour our coffee time, from the aroma, the sound of the pot when its spits and bubbles once it has brewed… every little detail! At this point I am; reading emails, filling in my moon chart, social media ‘butterfly,’ work, filling in my sticker charts (!) and consulting my to-dos. This is also the time of day where Mr True-Love H and I talk about VERY important stuff!

Coming soon…

Congratulations Wendy on the award! I was so confused why there wasn’t a blurb up at top then I realized it was Part 2 haha. You have such an interesting life :). I also wrote a post about this award and to my dismay no one has yet to accept the award or answer my questions. Oh well!

Enjoyed reading your answers. Love the writing is healing. So true. I think the travelling art workshops would be such a neat idea! Love that you are doing what you planned for retirement as so many people do not or don’t get the chance. Go for it.

Thanks Brenda, yes, writing is definitely medicine… and you are so right, lots of people don’t get the chance to do what they love in retirement… Grab the time, while we can eh? x
