Italy to Athens – a bit sooner than we planned…

IMG_0294

Leaving Italy early due to our accommodation not working out was the best thing that could have happened. We feel at home in Greece and have done ever since we crossed the sea. It has been a much easier and a simplified experience compared to Italy. And we are not wanting to be negative about Italy at all. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people and we are so grateful to everyone we met and the welcome we received. It was just that we didn’t feel quite right there. We can’t, even now put our fingers on why… it…

running away from stuff that was really hard to run away from…

2fQaMRxNNpquR2f28O9reohIqzBwNFw7t6g-N0wRp7A

Even though I didn’t want the stuff and situations I had… it was actually really hard to let go of some of it… It has been about 2 months now since we left our house and have been travelling, with no-fixed-abode and we have accomplished so much and come so far and still have so much to learn all at the same time. The above photo by the way is me trying to get my feet warm whilst sleeping in our van in Paris! And let me just say –  hair dryers can be an absolute life-saver! Some transitions are…

simplyfying and moving on…

Written on the 19th August, moving has put me a little behind… Packing up the fairy studio tonight, and I am wondering… Am I giving up everything (i.e. am I crazy?) Or, am I the luckiest girl in the world? There could well be a thin line between following your bliss and plain old craziness! Out of all the rooms in the house, this is the space I have been procrastinating the most. A fierce resistance to having to go through my special creative things, lovingly pack them and let go of that final layer of STUFF! I have been…

The ‘no plan’ plan! …

Written last night… Have you ever gone on your travels and not known where you were going, how long you will be away for, not have a home to return to, and not even know when you are actually leaving? For some this would be their idea of a nightmare… and for others; a calling of a free experience. We are all made differently and that is part of our beauty! Ah…. (big sigh) so hand on heart, connecting to what brings my heart joy, I can say I am so happy to be about to embark on this unknown…

Alice in Wonderland… Down the Rabbit Hole and into Wonderland!

So here it is! The day of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! It’s a day where A Fanciful Twist has an amazingly, imaginative, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and celebrates with lots of other creative spirits who want to have a party too! Go over and have a look at the eclectic menagerie (and beautiful photography) and I will see you there! When I started this project about Alice and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party I really didn’t know where it was going to go. I knew I wanted to focus painting mainly the characters but wasn’t sure at all where…

Mad Tea Party coming up… more details to follow!!!

Oh such a creative, lovely inspiring place to visit… For me, it’s kind of like the Audrey Hepburn film – Breakfast at Tiffiny’s… when she gets the blues and she heads off to Tiffiny’s… Well, I go here… A Fanciful Twist… But I go here when I’m happy too… for pure inspirations and day dreamings… x

Being grateful…

DSC00414

I have been thinking about the power of gratitude recently after talking to a very wise lady I know, aka, my mum! How being grateful and shifting focus to all the good ‘stuff’ in our lives of course attracts more good. Good relationships and the good things we desire. By even being grateful for some of the harder sides of life we get to experience good lessons. So, instead of asking ourselves, ‘why did this happen? Or, ‘why did I do that?’ We ask; ‘what can I learn from this’ and ‘what is the universe trying to show me?’ I believe…

Loving my ‘room’…

fairy-studio-April-2013

Yes it’s my studio but it’s so so much more…. It’s a special space just for me. I get to play in here with all of my favourite things. Art stuff, fabrics, books, my computer, (of course!) and all my other little nic-nacks that really have no other place to go. I have been known to spend quite some time creating montages of things I love; just for the fun of it and to surround myself with inspiration every time I step inside… For the last few weeks we have been decorating our house and stuff has been moved around…
