Setting myself a 30 Day Blog Challenge!

web-large-IMG_2543

After realising that I haven’t updated this blog in about two months I thought I would set myself a 30 day challenge; to write a short post everyday, for the next 30 days, without exception! I have seen other bloggers do this and loved following each day to discover a small snippet of real life rather than their usual longer and more edited posts.

So here goes! Day One… Today marks our two week anniversary of us living in Spain. Our camper van is not finished yet but it doesn’t matter as we are house-sitting for a few months and have full use of our hosts beautiful home. James has work to do and then can continue with the interior of the van build. Next to do is the solar panel and fitting the kitchen including sink, cooker and fridge/freezer. We shopped for most things whilst still in the UK but we are sourcing everything we may need here as we continue to find our feet in a new country.

The weather is cold and rainy today so I am snuggled in the van where it is cosy and warm. Sitting in our make-shift dining area complete with camping table, lamp and intermittent internet I have been learning Spanish. To keep warm in the main house I have been cooking soups using produce bought from the local market.

Our days are settling into a comfortable routine of; slow mornings with breakfast, communications and coffee, working and keeping busy throughout the day and evenings of watching movies, vino tinto and early nights. I haven’t even begun to unpack the art studio yet as the mess and bits and bobs would complicate my brain too much. I just want to slowly and peacefully settle in!

We have met our lovely Spanish neighbours, Rosa and Juan Carlos and they have made us feel very welcome; solving problems and helping us with our Spanish. Their generosity already surpasses any expectation. We notice that we are feeling at home faster than on previous occasions where we don’t mind that feeling of being a foreigner. It doesn’t feel so strange anymore. Thanks for reading and pop back tomorrow for day two of my challenge!
