Road trip…

road trip

A whirl-wind long distance road trip from where we were in Italy; across the alps and all through beautiful France… and nearly 2 weeks later I am still catching my breath. Thirty degree heat, sunshiney days, beaches, bicycles and bathing in the sea to UK weather and I am cold! And wearing my jeans for the first time since I don’t know when. I don’t feel ‘home’ at all. Home has a completely different meaning to me now. After feeling ‘homesick’ which I wrote about here, I am noticing the same feeling after our final ferry and suddenly we are…

Fun in the studio, aka, my yoga mat!

fairy studio

Being a travelling artist at the moment does bring up some challenges, not least of which is my studio situation! I like to make a mess when I get creative but I also need to keep rental apartments clean too… and I have a lot of stuff, different materials for mixed media and now jewellery and crafts… This can be a real logicstical nightmare! Yoga mat to the rescue! I have always liked working on the floor anyway so it makes for the perfect solution. And in between painting I can stretch out too! The best! I am just about…

Little update…

beach!

It’s been so long since I wrote a blog post I almost don’t know where to start. So much has happened and yet in a way, nothing has happened at all… Let me try and explain better… The little everyday routines that I do every single day (just about!) make me feel that nothing really changes. They make me feel safe and secure and even when nothing seems familiar whilst travelling; these simple rituals are my saviour. So, for example, I can make my bed anywhere, do yoga anywhere, complete my personal morning rituals of washing, dressing and drinking green…

New place and NEW Gallery page!

beach house

There is not a lot happening in the Fairy Art Shop at the moment during our travels. This is mainly due to practicalities. Carrying a load of packaging stuff with us in our tiny van just isn’t possible and I would have to bring less art materials. I know which I would rather have! It was hard enough making choices of what to bring and what not to bring… So, I am spending my time on creativity yes, but also on really improving my drawing and technique skills. Drawing, for me is hard. And takes a huge amount of concentration…

Book Review: The Ribbons are for Fearlessness…

The Ribbons are for Fearlessness

I have never been asked to review a book before so when I received an email from Summersdale, the publisher of this book (written along-side an EP of hauntingly emotional songs, see link below,)  I felt pretty honoured actually. And, I have really enjoyed the process of reading (on the beach!) and reviewing this book. The fact that there is an Alan Watts quote at the beginning meant I immediately wanted to read more as his talk about choosing how to spend your time, was one of my great inspirations before setting off on my own expedition to find my…

wild-woman-rising---blog-banner

Someone very magical and intuitive (thank you Jessica x) suggested that I submit my work to an on-line magazine a few months ago. It’s actually her birthday today. Happy Birthday! The same day that my work gets published! I have had lovely feedback and communications with the Editor and Art Director of the magazine at Wild Woman Rising. It’s a wonderful magazine with a diverse selection of contributors including other artists, articles and music so check it out. So here I am, published today! And, I am one happy, happy little artist! Goddess of the Sea

Moving on (again!) and sharing the magic…

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.  But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.  There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” -Alan Cohen Written a few days ago… We welcomed a visitor to our little place for the last week and we shared the magic of this land. And yes, Crete is indeed magical… I am completely and totally in love with this island! Whilst showing our nephew round we have come to…

Homesick…

bannerjanuary2014.3

Well, here I am, nearly 5 months since we ‘left home,’ and I said to James tonight… ‘I’m a bit homesick, you know?’ He replied that it was actually inevitable considering what we had given up and the big changes and sacrifices we have made in order to live our life debt free and the in way we choose. To some people it may seem a bit ungrateful to speak of my homesick feelings, but they are there none-the less. And, if I don’t acknowledge them it doesn’t mean they disappear – they don’t! I haven’t felt them very long…
