Day 13… a day of disasters and soup!

IMG_0086

If your mac dies, and you are a digital nomad… it can spell out a disaster. But, luckily James has the ultimate tech kit and knowledge, and, the use of my mac! While we have been travelling and homeless and mostly abroad I have actually dropped my laptop on a marble floor and whilst it did sustain three corner dents it was/is FINE! James on the other hand had a camera lens disaster in Athens, push-bike problems, dropped and smashed up his iphone in Italy and suffered the absolute lap-top DEATH in Crete! Having learned on our previous travels we…

Day 12… Valencian oranges, moon centres and maca!

IMG_0070

I couldn’t share of photo as my camera just couldn’t pick it up, but the moon last night took my breath away. It was a tiny waxing crescent, really bright and the angle of a smile. We could clearly make out the earth’s shadow too… a magical moon! I love the moon (as well as the sun) and have been recording for a while now how it links to my feminine cycles. I have also been mapping my moon centres according to ancient Kundalini Yoga and it is very interesting how once you discover your pattern, it recurs. It’s definitely…

Day 11… My day turned out even better because I didn’t pay any attention to my plans!

IMG_0059

Do you ever have mornings where you wake up and are full of energy and feel the momentum of getting everything achieved only to find it fizzles out before you have even started? Today I had planned my day but it turned out completely different. I had a few ‘to do’s’ on my list and got NONE of them done! I didn’t go into the local village to do some shopping, I didn’t start my drawing practise, I didn’t even wash my hair. And all the while I was thinking about what I should do, all I wanted to do, was…

Day 10… Rituals, routines and reflections…

IMG_0053

It is so peaceful here and now we are having some consistency with sunny days it changes our entire experience. I have actually been seeking shade this afternoon it is so hot. My bones are warm and I love it! We have been here almost three weeks now and finally I am starting to settle in. It takes me different amounts of time depending on so many factors. The longer we are staying somewhere the longer it seems to take me to feel at home. I knew it was starting to happen yesterday once I unpacked my art studio. To…

Day 9… The on-going LOVE project!

IMG_0021

Today was the day to unpack to the Fairy Studio and it feels great! I have got 2 small Ikea wooden drawer sets, full of art materials and one large plastic box with stuff like; art paper, collage paper, journals and my paints. The other item I unpacked today was my printer. Yippeeeee!!! Last year our van just wasn’t big enough to accomodate anything like what I have with me this time, including my small craft box, sewing accessories and fabrics. I even have my sewing machine too! James set up our outdoor camping table for me to use as…

Day 8… Language barriers and challenges at the post office!

IMG_1259

Today has been one of those days when I just felt like doing nothing much at all and so I didn’t! This morning I went to my friend and neighbour’s house – Rosa. She had kindly invited me and 2 other people round for an hour of Spanish conversation… Well, seeing as one of the ladies was German with virtually no Spanish/English and the other lady was English with very little Spanish and then there was me! Lucky for us Rosa speaks enough English to enable us all to get by. But it was FUN and really helps me with…

Day 7… A new camera for me!

2015-02-17 18.33.35

Just a mini blog post today as we have been out all day retailing… Not our favourite pastime but I really wanted a camera to help me with my blog and to photograph artwork in progress. I may even do a bit of video footage of a painting from start to finish, but speed up the results… mmm ideas. But I haven’t had my own camera for well over ten years. I am not sure why. I think I rely on James’s camera but there comes a point where I just want to be independent. I have found over the…

Day 6… My love of nature, where it comes from and an inspirational film…

IMG_0677

We went for a walk this morning to explore our surroundings and we were out in nature straight away. Heaven and Bliss. We asked the Universe that our house-sit would be rural but not too remote, so guess what happened?! It’s orange and strawberry season here at the moment and the trees are dripping with oranges. We freshly squeeze them and they are so sweet and juicy. The almond (almendra) blossom is just coming out too covering the hills with pink and white. There are herbs everywhere too. The rosemary smells divine… I loved the spring season in Crete last…
