Still living in that ‘in between place…’

IMG_0952

What happens if you are flung out of your ‘forever’ home, away from everything and everyone familiar to you, into foreign lands with languages you can’t (yet!) understand? And, what happens if you did this by your own free choice because everything just felt so wrong about staying where you were? Well, sometimes it feels very confusing that’s for sure! I have to admit, I am feelingĀ  a little impatient at the moment in the quest for a more permanent base… I want to be somewhere long enough for it to feel familiar. I will know where everything is and…

A peek inside the studio today… Sharing a new journal…

IMG_0939

A new journal… and it takes a little time to move in. Well, actually I received this journal as a Christmas present from my sister so it has taken me a LONG time to move into it. I do have a few journals on the go at any one time and I was a bit unsure about the paper at first, (even though I LOVED everything else about this book) but if it gets too wet it does wrinkle. It’s a Ryman A4 cartridge paper one and I am particularly enjoying the extra size aspect. Also, the pages fold out…

Living in ‘that in-between-place’…

IMG_0906

So, it’s been one year ten months to the day since we moved out of what was, our absolute ‘dream house.’ ! We can’t believe it’s been this long… And, we have no regrets, not even one. Even though we haven’t found a place (yet) to put down roots again, we are learning so much and moving forwards towards whatever that may look like, or, wherever it may be. This is an intermittent clarifying process with plenty of rest and adventures in the ‘in-between.’ And, that’s how I described it the other day; where I am, right now, I feel…

On the road in Andalucia…

IMG_0602

Van-life is working out very well for us! We love our little travelling home. Our kitchen functions really well with its proper sized sink, solar powered fridge and vintage ‘Vanessa’ cooker which even has a little oven. There is (just) enough work space and the custom built (by James) storage works so well to store our minimal possessions. We have even visited the charity shop to let go of unnecessary items as we inevitably brought too much! We left Valencia and travelled mostly via the coast to Cartagena and then headed inland to Andalucia. We are enjoying the dramatic change…

Little peek into van life…

2015-05-17 10.04.46 HDR

It’s been a little while since I blogged and I haven’t really got time for a big post at the moment so this is just a little update of life on the road. We finished our house-sit and took time out at a beach about an hour away staying in the area to finish some dental treatment. Finding a dentist periodically sometimes seems like a challenge when we think of it but the reality has proven thankfully, pretty easy. It has been one year and eight months since we sold the house we owned. We are noticing the many things…

The first peak inside our van…

IMG_0543

So mostly of late, after celebrating our birthdays in early April, we have been busy getting our van ready for our next travels. James is doing the build and I have been sewing and making curtains. Not much art being created but I don’t mind as… at last the nesting begins! We discovered an amazing market half an hour from where we are, selling a huge variety of fabric and I even managed to get some really cheap foam for adapting the dining chairs. We stopped off for a beer and a rest after amongst all the bustle where the…

How completing things is often really hard to do…

IMG_0496

I am committing myself these days to finishing things. Completing those loose ends I always seem to leave – and then they start to unravel again… I have areas of my life where quite simply, I am part way through and the time is now to complete the cycle. For me at the moment, this means staying focussed on my health and consciously eating the right foods as I have been really unwell. It also means giving up red wine too. Mostly this has been easy but now and again I feel I am really missing out of one of…

Day 30… morning meditations in the sunshine and the business side of things…

abc

Wow! Day 30 of my everyday blog writing ‘fun challenge!’ I am secretly amazed to have made it through. It has been ups and downs, procrastinations and a joy, I have LOVED it. And, I have appreciated so much all the likes, comments and messages. Thank you for those and even if you have just been privately and quietly reading, thank you too. I did spend time with my journals this morning. Meditating with them in the sunshine. The sun, I find, helps me with EVERYTHING! It helped me to get really quiet and connect with myself and think and…
