A peek inside the studio today… Sharing a new journal…

A new journal… and it takes a little time to move in. Well, actually I received this journal as a Christmas present from my sister so it has taken me a LONG time to move into it. I do have a few journals on the go at any one time and I was a bit unsure about the paper at first, (even though I LOVED everything else about this book) but if it gets too wet it does wrinkle. It’s a Ryman A4 cartridge paper one and I am particularly enjoying the extra size aspect. Also, the pages fold out flat too making it really easy to work on a double spread layout.

This week I decorated the cover as it was just plain black. I mainly collaged a mixture of elements I have collected either during my travels or used precious things that I have been given or sent. I added ribbons and glitter and even made a ‘tassle’ incorporating one of my favourite things; bells… I have always liked to jingle as I move about a place!

I am working on this guardian angel painting at the moment. It is something I started ages ago but I picked it up again this week as I have someone in my thoughts who really needs their guardian angel right now… If it works out OK I will upload it to my redbubble shop but it is going to make a flip-out page for the July spread in my journal.

I’ll share more pages as I go along, perhaps more on my facebook page than here as it’s quicker. Time to tidy up the studio a bit (see photo below!) and go for a rest now as temperatures are high. We are experiencing a heatwave here in Portugal and it’s usual at the moment for temperatures to reach 37-41 degrees… Phew! It’s a good test for us to see how we acclimatise before we commit to a longer term stop here. I don’t go and water the garden here until around 8.30pm and even then it is still around 31 degrees but feels COOL!

Bye for now and thanks for reading. X
